The Niikura 53P-200 Air Vent Head without Screen is a heavy-duty marine self-closing air pipe head designed for installation at the open end of ballast and oil tank air pipes. The automatic closing mechanism helps prevent seawater and rainwater from entering the tank while allowing the tank to ventilate and helping protect against excessive positive or negative pressure.
Part of Niikura's NC No.53 53P(W) shell-fitting series, the 53P-200 is the 200A (8") nominal size without screen. Niikura's range distinguishes 53P as the without-screen version and 53PW as the corresponding screen-equipped version. The series is available from 50A through 250A.
The 53P(W) range uses a JIS 5K connecting flange, has a stated maximum pipe velocity of 20 m/s, and is intended for demanding marine and shipboard tank venting installations.
