Woodside Greater Enfield Project – Paddle Tool for Spooling

Woodside Greater Enfield Project – Paddle Tool for Spooling

Project Overview

The Greater Enfield Development is a greenfield project located west of the company’s existing Enfield and Vincent assets. The development targets three oil accumulations:

  • Norton-over-Laverda (NoL)
  • Laverda Canyon (LC)
  • Cimatti

Technip FMC, our client, engaged us to supply paddle tools to support their umbilical spooling operations in Le Trait, France. The key requirements included:

  • Lightweight construction using wood.
  • Fumigation compliance as per ISPM 15.
  • Delivery to France within project timelines.

Challenges Faced

  1. Supply Chain Constraints:
  • Sourcing from Australia was not feasible due to cost and lead time.
  • We needed to identify a local supplier for efficient delivery.
  1. Material Limitations:
  • Wood lacked the robustness needed for the operation.
  • A stronger yet lightweight alternative material was required.

Solution Delivered

Oceanic Supply provided a bespoke paddle tool machined from polyethylene, reinforced with a steel tube handle.

  • Lighter than wood, making it easier to handle.
  • More durable, ensuring long-term usability.
  • Successfully sourced and delivered locally, meeting project deadlines.

Our innovative approach enhanced operational efficiency while overcoming supply and material challenges.
